How I was able to jumpstart our self-serve onboarding

Ironclad, a modern contract management platform for in-house legal teams, needed a better way to onboard and activate new users as it scaled. The team saw that a one-size-fits-all implementation model wasn’t efficient: some customers needed guided support, while others wanted a self-serve path to value faster. Ironclad turned to Bento to support both self-start onboarding and pre-sales trial experiences.

Bento helped Ironclad create a tailored, in-product onboarding experience with checklists, educational content, videos, tips, and guided “choose your own adventure” paths. The results were strong: activation times decreased by about 30%, and after introducing a dedicated “Getting Started” page, engagement with onboarding rose from roughly 15% to 70% of new users. Bento also gave Ironclad a faster way to experiment and iterate without relying on engineering for every change.
