Bento enables OpsLevel to jumpstart onboarding

OpsLevel, a microservice catalog and service ownership platform for engineering teams, needed a better way to onboard customers as the product grew. Before working with Bento, onboarding relied heavily on hour-long hand-held walkthroughs, and the team was evaluating third-party tools or even building its own onboarding experience to support more flexible, ephemeral in-product guidance.

Using Bento’s in-app onboarding guides, OpsLevel was able to give new users immediate access and let them start self-serve onboarding before meeting with the team. Bento enabled flexible, non-linear guides, user-specific experiences, and easy ongoing edits by non-engineers, while avoiding an internal build that would have cost tens of thousands of dollars annually in engineering and maintenance. The result was a more native onboarding experience, faster iteration, and less time spent on manual walkthroughs.
