A Bentley Case Study
WISDRI Engineering & Research Incorporation Limited served as the EPC contractor for Jinnan Steel Group’s Quwo capacity-replacement project to build a smart, sustainable 10‑million‑ton‑grade steel plant. The team faced tight space constraints, coordination across 15 engineering disciplines and 13 systems, creation of over 400 models, remote work during COVID‑19, and stringent energy and emissions targets. To meet these challenges, WISDRI adopted Bentley’s open BIM solution—centered on ProjectWise and including OpenPlant, OpenBuildings, ProStructures, SYNCHRO, and related applications—to provide an integrated 3D modeling and collaboration platform.
Using Bentley’s tools and a custom cloud platform, WISDRI enabled real‑time, multidisciplinary collaboration, automatic drawing/material list generation, and construction simulation. The results included a 30% improvement in design efficiency, a 45‑day reduction in design time, a 60‑day shorter construction schedule saving CNY 1.8 million (105 days saved in total), avoidance of 166 major clashes, 300 hours saved in communications, and a quantified reduction in carbon emissions of 0.1 ton per ton of steel—demonstrating Bentley’s measurable impact on project quality, schedule, cost, and sustainability.
