TYPSA Group Becomes First Large Spanish Engineering Company to Receive ISO 19650 Certification for BIM Workflows

TYPSA Group, a Spanish engineering consultancy delivering complex infrastructure projects worldwide, needed to scale and systematize its BIM workflows to meet the highest technical and contractual standards and secure ISO 19650 certification. After evaluating collaboration platforms, TYPSA Group chose Bentley’s ProjectWise to address inconsistent standards, manual processes, and the challenge of proving BIM maturity across global teams.

Bentley implemented ProjectWise as a connected data environment with standardized templates and automated workflows—used by up to 700 consultants across seven countries on projects like the Stockholm Metro and HS2—ensuring consistent BIM practices, reducing information loss, and lowering design and production costs. As a result of Bentley’s solution, TYPSA Group became the first large Spanish engineering firm to receive ISO 19650 certification (Spain, March 2021; UK, April 2021), realized an estimated GBP 1 million in savings on HS2 through early error detection, and improved productivity, quality, and sustainability by reducing printing and travel.
