A Bentley Case Study
Pestech International Berhad was awarded a 38‑month contract to design and construct a 230‑kV substation in Koh Kong, Cambodia to provide power to 11 rural villages, but faced tight timelines, budget constraints, challenging site conditions and error‑prone manual CAD workflows. To overcome these challenges Pestech partnered with Bentley, adopting Bentley’s integrated 3D and utilities applications (including OpenBuildings and OpenUtilities) to digitalize design processes and coordinate civil and electrical disciplines.
Bentley delivered a connected digital solution—OpenUtilities, OpenBuildings, Bentley Raceway and Cable Management, ProjectWise, iModel and LumenRT—that produced a unified 3D model, automated material extraction, enabled clash detection and provided interactive digital deliverables for stakeholders. Using Bentley’s technology, Pestech reduced design time by 50%, cut design changes by 60%, minimized material waste and costs, and produced higher‑quality, more constructible plans that strengthen Cambodia’s power grid.
