Panamanian Telecom Company Streamlines Network Design and Documentation

Cable Onda, the fastest-growing telecommunications company in Panama, faced inefficient, decentralized network documentation—spreadsheets in Excel and drawings in MicroStation—across a hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) and fiber network with over 3,000 splice enclosures. To centralize and modernize its data, Cable Onda launched a USD 228,000 project with Bentley, adopting Bentley Fiber, Bentley Coax, Bentley Expert Designer Communications, and Bentley Geo Web Publisher to manage designs and documentation.

Bentley’s communications applications were piloted in Colón (documenting 258 splice enclosures and 47 nodes) and then rolled out nationwide (40% complete to date), providing work-order creation, design audits, automated calculations, and geospatial fault location. The Bentley solution eliminated duplicate records, reduced human error, cut design and outage‑locating time significantly, improved deliverable quality, and enabled faster service restoration and customer onboarding.
