A Bentley Case Study
Thames Water, the UK’s largest water and wastewater company serving over 14 million customers, faced uncontrolled information flows across its £1bn-per-year capital investment programme, with some 1,500 live projects and many external contractors exchanging documents by email, CDs and shared drives. To secure and centralise project and asset information, Thames Water adopted the TWEXnet common data environment (BC Enterprise/BCDE) from Bentley to replace fragmented processes and provide version control, access rights and audit trails.
Bentley implemented TWEXnet with integrated modules for tendering, process and quality assurance (ProcessPlan), BIM viewing and GeoLink mapping, plus a publication function for health & safety materials and 20 training videos to accelerate induction. The solution delivered trusted provenance and real‑time status of documentation, faster environmental and heritage checks, clearer milestone tracking, reduced face‑to‑face training and significant time savings accessing data on laptop, mobile or tablet—supporting efficient delivery across Thames Water’s large capital programme.
