MOSES and SACS Simulations Help Dockwise Cut Topsides Float-over Time in Half

Dockwise, the transport and installation (T&I) contractor for the SHWE field development, faced the challenge of load‑out, transport, launch, and float‑over installation of a record‑breaking 22,000‑metric‑ton jacket and 30,000‑metric‑ton topsides in the Bay of Bengal within a tight schedule and with challenging stability, mooring, and global coordination requirements. To meet safety and schedule targets, Dockwise used Bentley technology — notably MOSES and SACS, along with MicroStation and ProjectWise — for detailed offshore platform analysis, design, and document management.

Bentley delivered an integrated solution using MOSES and SACS simulations with MicroStation and ProjectWise to iterate designs, transfer hydrodynamic and structural data, and optimize mooring and barge arrangements. The Bentley-led approach saved about 5,000 of the 30,000 engineering man‑hours, cut the estimated topsides float‑over from four days to two, improved data traceability across global offices, and enabled the installation to be completed safely and on schedule with no incidents.
