LBU Integrates BIM, Reality Modeling, and GIS Data to Deliver Digital Twins for Highway in Malaysia

Lebuhraya Borneo Utara (LBU) was the project delivery partner for the Pan Borneo Highway in Sarawak, Malaysia, tasked with digitizing delivery and lifecycle management for the 1,060-kilometer corridor (phase one: 786 km) to meet strict government requirements. LBU needed to integrate BIM, GIS, and reality modeling across design, construction, and operations, and engaged Bentley (via Channel Partner Reveron Consulting) to deploy Bentley solutions including ProjectWise, AssetWise, and ContextCapture.

Using Bentley’s connected data environment (ProjectWise) with AssetWise as the asset-management platform and ContextCapture for reality modeling, LBU built a digital twin and integrated highway management system that links design and construction data to asset tagging and field workflows. The Bentley solution provided a single source of truth—starting with a 32.8‑km completed work package and scaled across the 786‑km phase and 1,060‑km corridor—improving inventory, condition and defect management, enabling early clash detection to reduce rework, and delivering measurable gains in operational efficiency, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance.
