Lane Construction Constructs Storage Reservoir for Everglades Restoration

Lane Construction Corporation, working in a joint venture on the C-43 West Basin Storage Reservoir for Everglades restoration, faced a highly complex earthworks and water‑management build (a 16.3‑mile perimeter sand‑embankment dam and 2.8‑mile separator dam) and struggled to quantify large, segmented project elements for accurate bids, scheduling, and as‑built records. To address this challenge they turned to Bentley and its SYNCHRO suite (SYNCHRO Field, SYNCHRO Control, and SYNCHRO 4D) alongside ProjectWise for digital project management.

Bentley implemented a live 3D, 4D construction‑modeling workflow that let Lane split design models for refined quantity take‑offs, pre‑bid scenario analysis, scheduling, and real‑time field coordination; SYNCHRO also enabled about 20 office users and 100+ field personnel to collaborate on one platform. The result was better‑refined cost, schedule, and risk management, measurable digital preconstruction savings in time and cost, and a repeatable template for future projects on the USD 524 million C‑43 project, which will add 170,000 acre‑feet of off‑river storage.
