A Bentley Case Study
JMC2, the engineering firm hired to revitalize a historic section of Cravens Avenue in Old Torrance, faced a century-old street with ADA noncompliance, trip hazards from tree roots, and the need to rebuild sidewalks, driveways, drainage, water lines and street lighting. To develop an accurate 3D roadway and site analysis and meet the City of Torrance’s strict CAD standards, JMC2 relied on Bentley products, notably OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, OpenFlows and Bentley View.
Using Bentley’s tools, JMC2 produced precise 3D models, a digital twin for the water system, and compliant plan sheets that enabled remote coordination and streamlined workflows. Bentley technology helped reduce design time by 20% and cut about $50K in costs, eliminated the need for site visits to resolve constructability questions, and delivered an ADA‑compliant, revitalized corridor with upgraded sidewalks, curb ramps, tree wells and utilities for the City of Torrance.
