Case Study: Sainsbury's achieves a unified cloud-based digital estate and faster, more confident asset decisions with Bentley's BC (One Property) solution

A Bentley Case Study

Preview of the Sainsbury's Case Study

Helping Sainsbury’s make best use of their existing assets through a digital estate

Sainsbury’s, one of the UK’s largest retailers, faced a sprawling legacy estate of thousands of 2D drawings across 300 petrol stations, ~800 convenience stores and 600+ supermarkets and needed a single source of truth to answer plain‑language questions (e.g., how many/where/how big) quickly and economically. To tackle this, Sainsbury’s worked with Bentley (via the GroupBC BC platform, implemented as “One Property”) to modernise information management and avoid costly, repeated onsite surveys.

Bentley’s BC platform was deployed to digitise and extract asset data from legacy 2D drawings, integrate with ICON Systems and synchronise with Salesforce, and provide cloud‑based document management, version control and online drawing viewing. As a result, Sainsbury’s teams can quickly find counts, sizes and locations of assets, avoid duplicated information, reduce survey costs and save time on document searches, while gaining trusted, future‑proofed asset data for better decision making.
