A Bentley Case Study
Hatch Mott MacDona, a global consulting engineering firm, faced limits with traditional CAD-based rail signal design: no 3D modeling, poor links to bills of material, limited collaboration, and difficulty meeting IEEE/IEC standards. To modernize its workflow and introduce BIM intelligence, Hatch Mott MacDona selected Bentley solutions, notably Promis.e alongside Bentley Navigator and ProjectWise, to replace manual, sequential processes with an automated, standards-driven system.
Bentley implemented an integrated Promis.e-based solution with 2D schematics linked to 3D models, a single SQL Server project database, automated BOM generation, template-driven project builds, and built-in design checks. As a result, Hatch Mott MacDona reports faster, more accurate, and more collaborative designs—achieving a 50% reduction in time on the first template workflow (≈20% cost reduction), about a 25% cut in design checking time (≈28% cost reduction), and up to a 35% overall cost reduction per rail signal design location—while reducing risk and improving standardization.
