A Bentley Case Study
Grupo Especializado en Obras Marinas (GEOMSA) was tasked with assessing the integrity of a new subsea pipeline in the clay-soil trenches of Campeche Bay to increase domestic oil production. The team needed to model how the pipeline would respond to expansion, lateral deformation, curved routes, varying trench widths, multiple seabed levels, and high-pressure/high-temperature conditions, so GEOMSA used Bentley’s AutoPIPE to perform the structural analysis and design modeling.
Using Bentley’s AutoPIPE, GEOMSA built detailed 3D models and ran soil–pipe interaction and flexibility analyses to select materials, confirm wall thickness, and establish accurate stress and deformation levels while meeting local and international codes. The Bentley solution reduced analysis, delivery time, and project costs, produced more realistic and reliable designs that lowered failure and environmental risk, and supported increased oil production and local job creation.
