DRONETEAM.It (UAB IT logika) in Vilnius, Lithuania, piloted a digital inspection of the Balsiai power lines to address the country’s manual inspection burden: over 1.5 million customers rely on overhead transmission lines and about 36,000 km are inspected annually by time-consuming, subjective, and costly visual surveys. To modernize inspections, the team worked with Bentley, using Bentley’s ContextCapture 3D reality modeling application.

Using unmanned aerial vehicles, DRONETEAM.It captured 295 photographs in one day and used Bentley ContextCapture to create accurate 3D reality meshes for 860 meters of a 10 kV line. They integrated detection devices and AI to identify poles, insulators, and defects, creating a digital twin that automated data synchronization and workflows. Bentley’s solution significantly improved electricity grid maintenance efficiency and enabled faster, more objective defect detection.
