A Bentley Case Study
Clark Construction Group served as general contractor for the Port of Seattle’s USD 968 million International Arrivals Facility at Sea‑Tac and faced the daunting task of remotely constructing, transporting three miles, and hoisting a 3‑million‑pound, 320‑foot center span—the world’s longest pedestrian walkway—over an active airport taxi lane without disrupting operations. To meet tight tolerances and complex sequencing requirements, Clark partnered with Bentley and used SYNCHRO 4D alongside BIM, laser scanning, and reality modeling to digitally plan and validate the execution.
Bentley’s SYNCHRO 4D enabled 4D construction workflows, schedule-linked BIM, and animated simulations for transport, hoist, and site logistics, giving Clark a precise, tested sequence for the night installation. The result: the span was installed safely amid active airport traffic with a final fit within three‑eighths of an inch, no airport interruption, and delivery of a data‑rich digital twin (18 standard asset attributes) for ongoing facilities management.
