Balfour Beatty, a UK-based Tier 1 multinational infrastructure and construction group, needed to improve collaboration, knowledge sharing and standardise information management across more than 60 companies and joint ventures while meeting BIM Level 2 / ISO 19650 requirements. To achieve consistent workflows from tender through contract and reduce fragmented legacy systems, Balfour Beatty adopted GroupBC technologies—most notably BC Enterprise+ (GroupBC’s CDE and ProcessPlan), now part of Bentley’s product portfolio.

Bentley delivered the GroupBC toolset as an integrated common data environment and workflow platform, linking with CEMAR, SharePoint, Power BI, Autodesk and mobile field tools to support RFIs, NCRs, RAMS, inspections, snagging and more. The solution brought documented BS1192/ISO 19650 compliance, greater data reuse, standardised processes and reduced reliance on external consultants; today the platform supports over 63,000 users (9,000 active concurrently), ~40 live project workspaces a year and 24 TB of uploaded data, demonstrating measurable operational and compliance gains under Bentley’s technology.
