Arup faced the challenge of delivering the technically complex Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort—an intricate, large-scale structure with sweeping podium roofs and a distributed global design team—while moving from 2D CAD to a fully coordinated 3D BIM workflow. To meet tight timelines and produce fabrication-level steel models, Arup relied on Bentley products, including Bentley Structural Modeler, GenerativeComponents, ProSteel, RAM Concept, and MicroStation.

Using Bentley’s Structural Modeler, GenerativeComponents and related tools, the team produced a parametric, fabrication-ready 3D BIM that enabled concurrent work across offices, streamlined coordination, and rapid design iterations. Bentley’s solution cut the construction schedule by approximately two to three months, increased documentation accuracy and efficiency, and supported dramatic team growth at Arup (a roughly 500% increase in the building modeling team), helping deliver the project on time and on budget.
