ATLC Designs Water System 25 Days ahead of Schedule, Providing Potable Water to 300,000 People

ATLC Infraconsultants was contracted to design a piped water system to provide safe drinking water to 300,000 people across 128 villages in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, replacing hand pumps and meeting strict state regulations and a tight 90‑day timeline. Facing complex mountainous topography and the need for integrated hydraulic and structural analysis, ATLC selected Bentley’s OpenFlows WaterGEMS and STAAD to unify modeling and analysis in one environment.

Using Bentley’s OpenFlows WaterGEMS and STAAD, ATLC created a digital twin to optimize pressure zoning, pipeline routing, and structural designs, enabling conversion of some pumping stations to gravity feed and relocation of others to reduce pump head. The solution cut pipeline length from 750 km to 674 km, reduced pipe diameters, saved INR 50 million from gravity conversions and INR 70 million from pipeline optimization, lowered future O&M costs, and delivered the design 25 days ahead of schedule—bringing potable water service to over 36,000 households (about 300,000 people).
