Anddes Asociados Uses Innovative Technology to Analyze Mine Waste Dump

Anddes Asociados S.A.C., a rapidly growing Peruvian consulting firm, faced the challenge of performing a reliable 3D slope stability analysis for a mining waste dump with complex waste rock stacking, variable strong and weak foundation layers, and detailed dike and topography geometry. To address these challenges they used Bentley’s PLAXIS LE software to model the site’s full 3D conditions.

Using Bentley’s PLAXIS LE, Anddes Asociados represented the actual 3D geometry and heterogeneous soil layers, overcoming data-entry issues and producing a robust stability model; the resulting 3D factor of safety was 10% higher than the 2D analysis and exceeded the project minimum, demonstrating improved confidence in the dump’s stability and meeting the client’s safety objectives.
