ALIGN, the bidding joint venture of Bouygues Construction, Sir Robert McAlpine and VolkerFitzpatrick working on Phase One of HS2, needed to control the flow of design information from partners Jacobs and Ingerop while meeting tight deadlines and complying with BS1192/PAS1192 standards. To achieve flexible, standards-compliant information management and preserve metadata between client and JV systems, ALIGN selected Bentley’s BC CDE (BCDE/GroupBC) as their cloud-based Common Data Environment.

Bentley implemented the BC CDE to provide a single, secure location for all project documents and data, with document naming conventions, pre-set workflows and the ability to retain metadata across CDEs. The rapid implementation met the client’s deadline, ensured consistency of information through standards-based naming and workflows, improved collaboration across teams and design partners, and sped the flow of information on the 22 km HS2 section.
