A Bentley Case Study
AAEngineering Group, contracted to design, procure, and construct a new gold ore processing plant in Aksu, Kazakhstan, faced the challenge of producing multiple conceptual designs, integrating the new plant with existing facilities, meeting the client’s Digital Mine requirements, and coordinating a remote team under COVID‑19 quarantine. They partnered with Bentley and adopted its cloud-based BIM and digital twin toolset—including ProjectWise, ContextCapture, OpenRoads/OpenPlant, SYNCHRO 4D, and iTwin Services—to meet tight timelines and remote-collaboration demands.
Bentley delivered an integrated digital environment with reality-capture from UAVs and laser scans, collaborative data management, construction simulation, and a synced digital twin for visualization and clash detection. The solution enabled concurrent design and construction, reduced design time by 30%, cut travel expenses by 75%, decreased material quantities by 15%, eliminated construction clashes, and allowed commissioning ahead of schedule while training operations staff pre‑handover.
