Dark Space Planetarium plunges guests into 360 immersive experience using BenQ LU9245 projectors

The Dark Space Planetarium, located within a historic school in Scotland's Galloway Forest Park, faced the challenge of creating a state-of-the-art, immersive attraction to celebrate the region's dark skies. To bring their six-meter dome to life and transport guests into a virtual reality-like experience of outer space, they partnered with vendor BenQ.

BenQ implemented a solution using eight of its LU9245 laser projectors. These units were aligned and blended to create a single, seamless 360-degree image with 4k x 4k resolution, renowned for its vibrant colors, high contrast, and exceptional brightness of 7,000 lumens. The result is one of the brightest dome displays in the UK, which successfully immerses visitors in the wonders of space. BenQ's technology ensures a reliable, long-term installation with simplified management, allowing the planetarium to offer a captivating educational experience for all ages.
