How Aviva Canada surpassed their employee volunteering target, logging 8,835 hours in a year

Aviva Canada, one of the leading property and casualty insurance groups in Canada, wanted to increase employee engagement in its volunteering programme after seeing a steep drop in field volunteering participation following the pandemic. To support its sustainability ambition and climate-focused community investment goals, the company turned to Benevity and its volunteering and giving platform.

Aviva Canada used Benevity to promote Aviva Climate Day, an all-employee volunteer event with opportunities spread across eighteen locations and supported by executive updates, ambassador newsletters, intranet reminders, and location-based event listings on the platform. The event drew 1,195 employees and generated 2,978 volunteer hours in one day; combined with 5,587 hours volunteered outside the event, Aviva Canada reached 8,835 volunteer hours for the year, and 96% of employees surveyed said they would participate again.
