e.surv, a leading UK residential property risk surveyor, faced the challenge of engaging a large, diverse, and highly skeptical workforce with its existing benefits scheme. Engagement levels were low, and the company needed a new strategy to appeal to a wide range of employees, from recent graduates to long-serving surveyors, while also aiding recruitment and retention. To address this, e.surv partnered with vendor Benefex to overhaul its offering using the OneHub platform and a new flexible benefits scheme called ChoiceMatters.

Benefex's solution centered on introducing a unique FlexFund, giving employees a fixed monetary allowance to spend on benefits of their choice. This was supported by a comprehensive and personalized communications strategy to overcome employee skepticism. The results were exceptional: portal logins more than tripled to 73%, employees with more than one benefit doubled to 82%, and staff turnover plummeted from 12.1% to 5.1%. The FlexFund also played a crucial role in helping e.surv win a major new contract, directly contributing to business growth.
