A Benchmark Electronics Case Study
Fluke, a manufacturer of industrial test tools, faced the challenge of being first to market with a high-volume industrialized acoustic imager, the ii900. They had an ambitious six-month timeline to ruggedize a prototype and solve numerous design challenges for manufacturability. Fluke selected Benchmark Electronics for its expertise in design for manufacturability (DFM), new product introduction (NPI), and ability to meet tight deadlines.
Benchmark Electronics implemented a collaborative solution involving joint workshops and cross-functional teams to address hardware, software UI, and ruggedization. They solved critical issues like creating a high-bandwidth data pipeline for the acoustic array and designing a robust, passively cooled housing. As a result, the project adhered to its aggressive schedule, enabling Fluke to be first to market with a high-quality product that could be manufactured at scale. The ii900's innovative design earned Benchmark the 2019 Gold Fortive Innovation Award from Fluke's parent company.
