Case Study: a large HPC manufacturer achieves efficient validation of liquid-cooled supercomputer blades with Benchmark Electronics

A Benchmark Electronics Case Study

Preview of the Large, High Performance Computer (hpc) Manufacturer Case Study

a large, high performance computer manufacturer validates nearly 10,000 liquid-cooled blades with Benchmark

A large, high performance computer (hpc) manufacturer faced a significant challenge in testing thousands of dense, high-power blades for a groundbreaking liquid-cooled supercomputer. Standard air-cooled test fixtures were insufficient, and the customer needed a unique solution to validate thousands of electronic connections while managing the thermal requirements to prevent damage to expensive components. They collaborated with Benchmark Electronics for the development of a comprehensive test strategy.

Benchmark Electronics developed a multi-faceted solution incorporating in-circuit testing, functional-circuit testing, and critical fluid purge testing. They engineered specialized test fixtures with cooling solutions and implemented their proprietary Process Feedback System to streamline the workflow. This allowed Benchmark to efficiently test nearly 10,000 blades within the targeted time limit, significantly reducing potential production delays and ensuring the high quality and reliability of the complex system.
