Orchard Therapeutics, a cell and gene therapy company focused on hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) gene therapy for rare genetic diseases, needed to move beyond paper-based systems and better automate and scale its manufacturing and development workflows. The team struggled to analyze data spread across multiple sources and wanted a more connected, efficient way to support process development and data continuity across teams, with Benchling helping as the core data platform.

Benchling implemented an open, centralized system for Orchard Therapeutics, supported by a Success Package, user training, and standardized templates/sub-templates to improve compliance, traceability, and collaboration. This helped Orchard standardize workflows, increase data integrity and transparency, reduce manual errors, and free up scientists’ time, contributing to major progress including the FDA approval of Lenmeldy in March 2024.
