How DTU Biosustain powers protein engineering with AI/ML

DTU Biosustain, the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability at DTU, was working to advance sustainable bioprocessing and protein engineering but was held back by disconnected, inconsistent data across research teams. Before using Benchling, scientists relied on multiple tools and manual processes, making data hard to trace, share, search, and reuse for collaboration and AI/ML work.

DTU Biosustain partnered with Benchling to standardize and centralize research data with a cloud-native platform, unified data model, system-wide search, and codeless configuration. Benchling helped the center create structured workflows and FAIR-aligned data practices, improving findability, collaboration, and productivity while laying the groundwork for ML-driven protein and enzyme design and faster, more efficient wet-lab work.
