Case Study: Synlogic Therapeutics achieves unified, traceable synthetic biology workflows and streamlined IND filing with Benchling

A Benchling Case Study

Preview of the Synlogic Therapeutics Case Study

Accelerating Synthetic Biology with Fully Unified Informatics

Synlogic, a developer of microbe‑based therapeutics for conditions from cancer to genetic metabolic disorders, struggled with fragmented, paper‑based workflows that hindered collaboration and reproducibility. Without a linked workflow and registration system they couldn’t reliably trace candidate lineages, and placing requests, uploading instrument results, and aggregating experiment data was cumbersome and error‑prone.

Benchling implemented a custom data model mapped to Synlogic’s workflows, integrated instrument and request systems (including bioreactor connectivity) to automate lineage tracking and associate results with samples in real time. The unified informatics solution improved traceability, collaboration, and data reliability, and enabled Synlogic to streamline IND filings by linking full experimental histories directly in submissions.
