A Bench Case Study
NoPhone, founded by Van Gould and two friends, turned a joking idea into a real side business selling a minimalist “fake phone” designed to help people put down their smartphones. As a first-time product venture, the team had little experience with bookkeeping, shipping, or business administration and needed help managing the back end as orders began to grow.
Bench provided NoPhone with online bookkeeping support, including a dedicated bookkeeper and monthly transaction categorization and financial statements. With Bench handling the books, NoPhone was able to keep operations organized while scaling to more than 3,000 customers worldwide, proving that a side project that started as a bar joke could become a successful business.
