Silicon Valley Bank, led in purchasing by Terry LaRock, faced a fully paper-based purchasing process when he arrived. With employees who had never used an automated system and skepticism about software, the bank needed a reliable way to centralize purchasing, requisitioning, inventory and receiving across corporate and IT departments.
Terry implemented Bellwether Purchasing Software—starting with requisitions for the departments that generated 95% of orders—and rolled out Purchasing, Quotations, Inventory and Receiving modules. The system automated approvals, provided real-time requisition and order history, and enabled paperless vendor management with PDF POs/RFQs by email; it also streamlined a multi‑site stationery quotation process during a rebranding. The result: faster workflows, clear audit trails, full staff adoption and elimination of paper shuffling.
