Saint Francis University is a private Catholic liberal arts university in Loretto, PA, with a 600‑acre campus and about 2,084 students. After centralizing purchasing in 1990 to bring consistency and accountability to roughly 60 departments and a $10M annual spend, the university still faced slow, manual procurement processes, long order turnaround times and management of about 2,500 active vendors.

Saint Francis implemented Bellwether Purchasing Software—using Requisitions, Purchasing, Receiving, RFQ, Inventory and A/P Interface modules—to automate and streamline purchasing and warehousing. The result: order processing dropped from about a week to same‑ or next‑day, nearly all purchases are handled in‑house, about 2,000 POs are managed annually with improved efficiency, and technical support has been minimal and responsive.
