A Bellwether Case Study
QuickChek Food Stores is a privately owned New Jersey convenience-store chain with 102 stores and 1,800 employees focused on food service and customer dedication. Until recently, purchasing for big-ticket store equipment was manual and decentralized: stores phoned requests, the support center placed orders, invoices were routed on paper for approvals, payments were often delayed, paperwork was lost, and there was no way to track spending against budget.
QuickChek selected Bellwether Purchasing Software (Purchasing, Receiving, Requisitions, Quotations, Inventory, A/P Interface) because it met functionality and price needs and interfaced with their Lawson financial system. Implemented quickly, the solution automated three-way matching, eliminated double entry, created an audit trail, enabled budget- and dollar-based approval routing to remove bottlenecks, and significantly improved payment timeliness and purchasing efficiency.
