Anderson University - Customer Case Study

Anderson University, a Christian college in central Indiana, faced an aging and increasingly complex IT environment that had grown organically over time, leaving labs, classrooms, and offices filled with dated PCs and network quirks. The university needed a more modern, flexible way to support students and instructors, especially for course-specific applications in fields like nursing. Bell Techlogix, which had supported Anderson University for more than 15 years, helped identify a better path using virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI).

Bell Techlogix worked with Anderson University’s IT staff to deploy VDI and replace as many as 125 PCs in labs and the library with an HP-based infrastructure running Microsoft Windows and VMware View 5. The new solution enabled software on demand, reduced the number of software licenses needed, lowered energy, space, and cooling costs, and gave users access to the right desktop environment for different tasks. Anderson University is now exploring expanding the VDI approach to support audio and video applications as well.
