Belcan worked with Rated Capacity Limiting (RCL), a construction OEM with a broad portfolio of on-road and rough-terrain cranes, to replace a third-party RCL system. The existing solution required months of configuration and testing after final crane build, lacked the differentiated features the customer needed, and came from a sole supplier that was not responsive to the customer’s needs.

Belcan designed, developed, and tested the full RCL system from concept to production, including post-production field support, using a clean-room environment and Simulink hardware interface libraries for integrated simulation and controls development. Belcan’s solution supported all crane models in a single code base and used COTS tools for calibration, flashing, and service. The result was industry-specific algorithms and software patents, a reduction in time to market from months to days for new crane models after pilot builds, increased product sales through product differentiation, and industry-leading service tools.
