Contingent Workforce Management in the Insurance Industry with Beeline VMS

America's Leading Insurance Company, a major insurer with roughly 21,000 employees and more than 48,000 agents, faced complex regulatory, security, and compliance challenges in managing its large contingent workforce after failing an internal audit. The organization needed better ease of use, centralized reporting and spend visibility, automated requisitioning and invoicing, and stronger governance over independent contractors and SOW-based projects. To address this, they selected Beeline and its Beeline VMS platform (including Resource Tracking and Self-Sourcing functionality).

Beeline implemented the Beeline VMS in 2014, integrating it with SAP HRIS/ERP and other critical systems to centralize sourcing, tracking, and compliance for roughly $120 million in annual contingent spend across ~50 suppliers and 45 U.S. locations. As a result, Beeline standardized processes enterprise-wide, improved visibility into contingent labor (nearly 25% of the workforce, ~80% in IT), reduced co‑employment and compliance risk, offboarded 17 suppliers, and enabled the customer to pass a subsequent internal audit while providing centralized reporting and measurable spend management.
