Reduce turnaround time (tat) and increase Operator efficiency with a connected, Pre-analytical automation system

Gaziantep University Faculty of Medicine Hospital's central laboratory sought to standardize its high-volume workflow, reduce user errors, and significantly decrease the turnaround time (TAT) for its 4.5 million annual tests. To meet this challenge, the laboratory partnered with Beckman Coulter to design and implement a connected, pre-analytical automation system, which included a Power Processor, a centrifuges, and a decapper, integrated with their existing clinical biochemistry and immunoassay analyzers.

Beckman Coulter provided a professional workflow analysis to identify and resolve bottlenecks, recommending the addition of a high-capacity refrigerated stockyard unit for automated re-runs and add-on tests. The implementation of this solution, along with Beckman Coulter's Power Processor and UniCel DxI 800 systems, led to a dramatic 40% reduction in total turnaround time, cutting it by 120 minutes. This also minimized manual, time-wasting processes and increased overall operator efficiency, allowing the laboratory to provide faster, higher-quality patient service.
