KfW validates TruBudget in 3 countries with BearingPoint

KfW Development Bank, part of the German state-owned KfW Group, needed a way to better monitor capital for international development projects and reduce the high costs and risks of fund misappropriation. To address this, KfW had developed an in-house, blockchain-based software solution called TruBudget but required real-world testing before full implementation, engaging BearingPoint for this task.

BearingPoint supported KfW by testing and tailoring the TruBudget solution for pilot rollouts in three countries: Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, and Georgia. The multidisciplinary teams provided on-site implementation, integration with local IT systems, and user training. The successful proofs of concept demonstrated TruBudget's viability, leading to a decision for full implementation in Burkina Faso. BearingPoint's work revealed significant potential for improving efficiency and budget transparency in KfW's development projects.
