A BearingPoint Case Study
Hailiang Metal Europe (HME), a leading manufacturer of copper and brass products, faced the challenge of complying with the EU's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). As a subsidiary of a Chinese parent company with significant revenue in the EU, HME needed to navigate complex new reporting standards on environmental and social impacts, which required significant investment in technology and infrastructure. To address this, HME partnered with the consulting firm BearingPoint.
BearingPoint implemented a comprehensive solution for HME, beginning with an as-is assessment and a double materiality evaluation. The vendor conducted a gap analysis against European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) and an eligibility analysis according to the EU taxonomy. BearingPoint also developed an internal carbon accounting process aligned with the ISO 14064-1:2018 standard. As a result, HME established a robust ESG Data Architecture that improved data accessibility, quality, and compliance, successfully preparing the company to meet its 2026 reporting deadline and enhancing its operational efficiency and market competitiveness.
