Accelerating Deal Flow and Cash Flow Management by Migrating Away From Spreadsheets

DataArt worked with a global hedge fund to replace a spreadsheet-based process that had become too complex, slow, and error-prone for managing debt deals and cash flow analysis. The firm needed a centralized system of record, better deal tracking, and a way to compare projected versus actual payments without relying on multiple spreadsheet versions and email chains. Beacon Platform was selected to support the modernization effort.

Using Beacon Platform, DataArt built a web-based application with Excel plug-ins for a gradual migration, cloud-based calculation and storage, and a bi-temporal data model for tracking expected versus actual results. The project centralized deal data, automated the cash flow generator, and delivered a deployed application in under three months with a small team. Beacon Platform helped reduce the effort to less than half of what would have otherwise been required, while improving consistency, reproducibility, and future automation potential.
