Manchester Airport, the UK's third largest airport, faced a challenge with its inefficient, paper-based safety reporting process which was time-consuming for its Airfield Operations team. They selected vendor BCN Group to develop a bespoke Safety Management Information system using Microsoft SharePoint to share real-time information and eliminate paper procedures.

BCN Group developed a solution that embedded the necessary information into staff PCs, laptops, and PDAs, creating a central repository for incident data. This allowed a wider range of staff to log safety observations and access corrective measures, saving the operations team over 300 hours per year and enabling a shift to preventative safety management.
