A Baynote Case Study
UncommonGoods is a New York–based online marketplace (founded in 1999) that sells a wide array of creatively designed, high‑quality merchandise and aims to be customers’ favorite place to shop. With thousands of eclectic SKUs across home, garden, office, fashion and gifts, the retailer struggled to deliver relevant upsell and cross‑sell recommendations—traditional purchase‑based algorithms produced odd associations and couldn’t capture the subtle, non‑obvious links between unique products.
UncommonGoods selected Baynote Personalized Onsite Recommendations to better reflect true product correlations and customer engagement signals. Deployed on product pages and in email, the solution improved shopping engagement, expanded product exposure (from four to twenty recommendations per page), reduced database load and page times, automated the merchandising process, and generated enough incremental email revenue to pay for the system.
