The AP team faced OCR limitations—poor accuracy on low‑quality or handwritten invoices, formatting and language issues—and only 40% of invoices were PO‑based, which forced extensive manual processing and strained resources during rapid M&A‑driven growth.

Working with partner Extropy, RadNet implemented Basware’s SmartPDF and SmartCoding to replace OCR and automate invoice handling; 77% of invoices now flow through SmartPDF, 75% of non‑PO invoices are processed without AP intervention, and 85% of PO invoices are touchless. The change delivered near‑perfect recognition accuracy, cut processing time to under five days, avoided additional headcount, and transformed AP into a more strategic, profit‑focused function.
