Philips Goes ’Green’ with Electronic Invoicing

Philips, a global leader in consumer electronics, lighting and healthcare, made sustainability a core value and set out in 2006 to minimize its carbon footprint by replacing paper invoices with electronic outbound invoicing across multiple business units and countries. The company faced the challenge of deploying a compliant, flexible invoicing solution that could connect with diverse back-office systems and meet regulatory and customer requirements across Europe.

To solve this, Philips partnered with Basware, using its open consolidator platform to convert and deliver invoices in whatever format or channel customers required. The solution enabled rapid rollouts in countries including the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Poland—delivering a fully integrated flow of more than 50,000 invoices to Benelux outlets within months—cutting paper use to a minimum while speeding up and improving invoice accuracy, and is now being extended to additional channels and regions.
