Case Study: Daimler AG achieves an integrated e-invoicing strategy with Basware

A Basware Case Study

Preview of the Daimler AG Case Study

How Daimler has managed to establish and roll out an integrated e-invoicing strategy by introducing Basware

Daimler AG, a global automotive leader with hundreds of thousands of employees and operations across numerous countries, faced the challenge of standardizing and digitizing invoicing across a complex group structure. Sending hard-copy intragroup invoices caused capture delays, statement discrepancies and inefficiencies, while suppliers ranged from high-volume manufacturers to small vendors—requiring a coordinated, strategic roadmap and shared-service governance to roll out e-invoicing at scale.

Working with Basware, Daimler implemented a multi-channel e-invoicing strategy (e‑Invoice Receiving & Sending, PDF e‑invoicing, Scan & Capture, EDI and self‑billing/ERS) centered on a central Basware portal and an Any‑to‑Any intercompany solution to enable 100% electronic exchange. The rollout now supports 10,000+ suppliers (high‑volume suppliers use structured PREMIUM feeds; smaller suppliers use PDF or portal key‑in), provides 24/7 data access, reduces paper and processing time, improves payment punctuality and data quality, and delivers measurable transaction cost savings and greater transparency.
