Effective Procurement at Finavia With Purchase to Pay

Finavia, which operates 25 airports across Finland, faced a highly decentralized procurement model where each airport made its own purchases, creating duplicate supplier entries, limited spend visibility and high process costs. The lack of a unified system made it difficult to enforce contracts, track usage or realize volume discounts.

Finavia implemented a centralized purchase-to-pay solution (purchase management, invoice processing, contract and order matching, supplier catalogs and network) together with active user engagement and support. The change cut suppliers from 8,627 to 3,492, reduced annual purchase invoices from 80,156 to 46,070, brought 80% of spend into the system, achieved over 70% e-invoicing and implemented roughly 90% of user improvement ideas—delivering greater transparency, harmonized processes, cost savings and better purchasing power.
