DHL Express, part of the global DHL logistics group, set out to standardize and automate its procure-to-pay process across more than 100 countries to reduce team workloads and simplify KPI reporting. The main challenge was designing a core global process that could work across multiple ERPs and local legal requirements while replacing manual invoice handling and fragmented reporting.

DHL chose Basware AP Automation and Basware Network, piloting in Singapore and Taiwan in 2014 and expanding to 50 countries (with 2–6 go‑lives per month), integrating a single Basware installation with SAP, Oracle, SUN and JBA System 21. The rollout achieved 100% invoice recognition and automatic invoice matching, significantly cut processing time and workloads, and delivered instant, comparable global KPI reporting—enabling smoother, on‑time implementations and ongoing efficiency gains.
