Timber Products Achieves Vpp Recertification with the Help of Basicsafe’s Safety Audit Management Software

Timber Products, a wood-products manufacturer headquartered in Springfield, Oregon, needed an efficient way to track safety audits to maintain OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) certification. To meet that challenge they partnered with BasicSafe and adopted BasicSafe’s Safety Audit Management software to organize audits, train safety committee members, and monitor corrective actions.

Using BasicSafe’s Audit tool Timber Products ran monthly, one‑third‑of‑plant audits, assigned and tracked corrective actions, and built a VPP-specific audit to prepare for inspection. When Oregon OSHA completed a week‑long audit in 2016, they issued 53 recommendations and Timber Products completed 51—enough to retain VPP status. BasicSafe also centralized documentation, improved transparency and accountability, and reduced audit time from days to hours.
