Swanson Group, a forest products manufacturer with about 750 employees, previously relied on minimal incident forms that made investigations and workers’ compensation claim submissions slow and incomplete. Since 2012 they have partnered with BasicSafe and adopted its Incident Investigation and Reporting software to provide a structured way for employees and managers to report, track and investigate incidents.

BasicSafe customized the tool for Swanson Group to capture and trend management, employee, environmental and equipment contributing factors and to allow site- and division-specific configurations across nine locations (including an FAA-approved aviation site). The solution delivers more comprehensive incident reports, speeds claim submission by reducing follow-up questions, enables direct emailing to claims adjusters, and helps Swanson identify recurring issues and revise safety policies.
